AGENDA ITEMS

• We need to get set up for remote meetings. It appears that Zoom is the most popular free videoconferencing tool available for a variety of platforms. I have downloaded and installed it on my Mac and (with less success) on my Linux system. Let me know if you need (remote) assistance. Note: Zoom has been in the news lately for its poor security: meetings get "bombed" by uninvited participants (not a problem for us, I reckon!) and there are rumors of exploits that plant malware through Zoom. However, they have just released a new version purported to have better security, and I don't see OFC as a "target of choice", so I have set up the meeting in Zoom anyway. The meeting ID is 646-109-288 and the password is 062387.
• We have lost a member, a friend and a great man: Philip Manders passed away last Sunday, April 5. It will be hard to proceed without him, but I know he'd want us to try. "Like watching a library burn!" His wife Bryony sent us this video of Philip doing what he always did: helping make things better for all.
• Another burning library: for those who haven't heard yet, John Prine] passed away on Tuesday, April 7, from COVID-19.
• Keith] suggests this topic: What might be the major impacts of Covid-19 for the future of not only our own country but also for the rest of the world?
• You might want to have a look at this Medium article: Prepare for the Ultimate Gaslighting. While I find his repeated insistence that The American People are really wonderful folks a form of gaslighting not dissimilar from the ones he predicts, I'm inclined to cautiously agree -- and his warning should not be ignored!
