PEARSON, John (Jack) Edward D.

November 9, 1921 - January 15, 2013

Died in his 92nd year from lung cancer and heart failure after a short illness. Born in Neepawa, Manitoba but grew up in Oak Bay, Victoria from the age of two. He lived in Vancouver for 46 years. Predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Lionel, Hugh and their sister Vi. He leaves a much loved wife Penny, son Ronald and daughters Wendy and Tanya, niece Gillian, nephew Robin. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren behind. He spent 25 years in the Canadian Navy leaving as LCMR. He graduated from UBC in 1952 with a Bachelors of Commerce. He also fought in the Second World War in the Atlantic and St. Lawrence River. In 1967 he became the administrator of the Physics department at UBC and remained there for 17 years. During retirement, he made many travels around the world on land and cruises. He followed politics closely and was an avid reader, retaining all his faculties. The memorial service will be held on January 23 at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver at 49th St and Oak St. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 103, 3833 Henning Dr. Building V5C 6N5.
