PHYS 210 PROJECTS

The main idea that I have is to create or add features to an existing multi-mass king model.

Um, what's a king model? -- Jess 22:07, 3 October 2008 (PDT)

These models are especially useful when examining globular cluster evolution. The models are fitted to data to try and better understand the evolutionary process that occur within a given group of stars. For example, mass segregation where larger masses tend to dominate the central portion and smaller masses tend to dominate the outer bounds of the group.

OK, that sounds interesting. -- Jess 22:07, 3 October 2008 (PDT)

Whether I'll be starting from scratch or improving upon an existing one is unknown as of yet. Possible additions to existing models are adding a 'video' output component to a timed sequence of an existing model.

Or starting from scratch in which I would need to create a basic model where all object share the same mass. Then work up from there.

From what I can understand, this sounds promising. -- Jess 22:07, 3 October 2008 (PDT)
