3.4 Courses

Students have expressed some unhappiness with uneven standards, workloads and expectations in graduate level Physics and Astronomy courses. Quite a few ``Directed Studies'' courses are offered to a few students each term, and in some cases, the students say these courses are easy credits for little work. Having a standard broad core of required courses should alleviate this problem.

Additionally, several students have requested a laboratory/practical graduate course offering; this will be investigated.
