Quip of the Moment:

Many of today's politically correct activists have argued IN COURT that they should not have to pay penalties for civil disobedience because their cause is right. Similarly, many who would accuse colleagues or superiors of unacceptable behaviour have argued that they should not have to run the gamut of formal complaints and due process because it is the wrongdoer who should suffer, not the wronged. These people completely miss the point of a free society. Matters of right and wrong are always subject to differences of opinion, and the price of protest has always been high. It MUST be so; when one group's viewpoint gains enough political power that members of that group can force their version of justice upon others WITHOUT PENALTY, society is at the mercy of that group. This is usually known as a dictatorship. (2002-03-02)
