The [Three? Seven?] Forces

Although I have not yet defined what I mean by half the terms in Table 1.5, this is a convenient place to summarize the known and hypothetical interactions of matter. It is conventional to group ``superweak''gif together with the electroweak interaction (which ``unifies'' the weak and electromagnetic forces) and to put ``superstrong'' and ``ultrastrong'' in with the strong interaction so that you should not be surprised to hear that there are only three ``official'' forces - gravity, electroweak and strong. However, there is a certain amount of freedom in semantics here....
